Projects - Stone Wall Panels

DDS has imaged our MuruStone in granite and marble patterns since 1999. We have completed many projects such as wainscots, feature walls, and as a background for signage. We have a number of stone patterns available to us, and our imaging technology allows us to adjust color within those patterns. We can photograph or scan stone that is not in our library to provide our clients with the stone they desire. Some typical projects follow:

Hanover Building Elevator Cab - Raleigh, NC

This building is a modern high rise office building in downtown Raleigh, NC. The first floor lobby houses a Bank of America branch. The marble used on the walls and floors of the lobby consists of two colors of Emperadore marble. The elevator was decorated with conventional laminate wall coverings and out of date lighting. The building owner wanted a new look and specifically wanted the interior of the elevator cabs to match the marble in the lobby.

DDS worked with Precision Walls of Raleigh to develop a stone pattern that was very close to the marble in the lobby. Precision found a slab, and we had it photographed. The actual panels in the elevator are 1/4" MDF that weigh 1.2 pounds per square feet compared to 8 pounds per square foot for 3/4" thick marble. Simply put, the elevator would have required new, heavier duty mechanical equipment to accommodate 3/4" marble, but the MuruStone was about the same weight as the cladding that was removed.

After the lighting and ceiling system were changed and the existing lining removed, the MuruStone "marble" was installed in less than a day. The panel joints were sealed with a mortar appearing sealant. The grab rails were screwed right through the Murustone, and the owner had a new, custom imaged marble lined elevator. Take a look at the pictures and you will see a very close match. Certainly the match is as close as could be obtained by searching marble dealers for an Emperador that was close to the lobby stone.

This shows the relined elevator and a portion of the stone that surrounds it in the lobby. The owner was very satisfied with the appearance of the MuruStone and even more pleased with the cost.
