Projects - Ceilings
We have done custom printed ceiling panels using two mediums. The first is Fire Resistive 1/2" MDF, and the other is a 7/16" thick dense polyester mat that accepts dye sublimation printing and is easily cut to lay into a ceiling grid. Our customers for ceiling panels include one of the most prominent interior designers in the world and developers wanting to decorate lobbies and other feature spaces. • Nobu, Dubai - Ceiling panels to match the terrazzo in an upscale sushi restaurant in Dubai, UAE.• Conde Lobby - A tiled ceiling mural in the lobby of Conde in Mobile, AL. • Retail Advertising - A small ceiling area advertising the company's product in their lobby. Top Nobu, Dubai: Nobu, Dubai is an upscale restaurant in Dubai, UAE. This facility was designed by the Rockwell Group of New York City. The décor features a very unusual dark terrazzo with sections of bamboo embedded into the terrazzo forming a series of bright circles in a random pattern. The objective for the ceiling tiles was to mirror the terrazzo. After scanning sections of terrazzo DDS submitted a number of prototype samples to the designers for their consideration and eventual approval. The ceiling tiles themselves were several different non-standard sizes that were required to fit the space. The material was 1/2" thick MDF that is treated to be fire resistive. The panels are then coated to be imaged with dye sublimation technology to form our MuruStone panels. DDS worked closely with our representative in New York and the designer to finalize the image and the panel sizes. The range of color permitted was very tight, making this project a challenge in every way. ![]() This is the bar at Nobu, Dubai. The floors and walls are a unique terrazzo.
