Dye Sublimation is a method of printing that transfers a dye into a polyester clear coat and cross links the dye molecule with the coating molecule. The ink is not on the surface nor is it "soaked" into the surface. It is chemically integrated with the performance coating on the surface of the substrate material. This process takes place at high heat and pressure. This environment opens up the long chain molecules and allows them to become a new molecule. The process gives high resolution and brilliant colors. Dye sublimation was invented to print polyester yarns. These yarns did not take the typical textile dye that is used for cotton or wool and this heat transfer printing technique solved the problem by using a polyester dye and marrying it to the yarn. Digital Designed Solutions is the expert in using this same technique to permanently print into coated surfaces on a wide variety of hard surfaces. We have printable (with dye sublimation) surfaces with substrates of:
Our capabilities include large sizes (up to 48"x 72"), custom fabrication, lamination, and framing. We can take your image or design and tile it into large tiled murals or images. We can laminate custom printed steel panels to any substrate. Our engineers will work with your designers and develop the edge detailing, shop drawings and specifications required to give you the permanent, brilliant, and custom interior decoration you have in mind. Green Panels and Coated Surfaces: MuruStone coatings have 0% VOC's. There are no greener coatings. The substrates are known quantities as far as their reusable and recyclable characteristics are concerned. We can team up our coatings and our technology with a suitable green substrate to create green applications that fit into any overall green design. We are proud to be a part of the solution. ![]() This job involved the construction of a display booth for "The Green Depot". The Green Depot is a distributor of building products in New York City and Long Island, NY that meet the criteria for sustainable products. www.greendepot.com Needless to say, the panels that we supplied to The Green Depot had to meet those requirements in order to be considered for use in their display booth. Art Specification: The link below will take you to our art specification. We accept art in many formats, but the size of the final product will dictate the best image format and the required quality that needs to obtain. Trying to make good art out of and image that simply doesn't have the graphic information in it always disappoints. If you know the final size of the decoration, we can help you specify the resolution and image type that is required. See our specification to get started or send it to your photographer or graphics artist: Art Specifications. CSI Specification: See a typical specification for MuruStone panels: MuruStone Specifications. Because our panels are configured on a wide variety of substrates, it may be necessary to add sections to cover the substrate or other items required for a successful applications. In addition our panels may be a part of a modular wall system such as "Graph" by Fry Reglet. In that case their specification would govern. DDS can assist with specification information or develop a complete specification for your application. If we know the type of substrate we will be using and the nature of the wall, floor or ceiling construction, we can provide you with the specification or specification elements that you need to properly define the installation. |
